Isaac’s appetite has been great lately. Overall he hasn’t been very picky which is really good because today is grocery day. That means his lunch options for today were pretty slim. This is what his lunchkit looked like today.
- Bean and Cheese Burrito- He loves these! I used fat free refried beans, which are a good protein option, and spread them on a whole wheat tortilla. Then I sprinkled 2% cheddar cheese, rolled it up, and cut it in two pieces.
- Orange – I cut it into slices. He likes to bite them and just squeeze out the juice, but sometimes he eats the whole thing.
- Homemade Trail Mix – I use the term “trail mix” very loosely here. It was really only Cheerios and raisins tossed together.
- Skim Milk- He is back to drinking milk regularly now. I chose skim milk because he has no preference, and it’s fat free. I know he’ll see kids with juice and might whine, but I used a fun Backyardigans squeeze bottle that he got from his cousin, Summer. It makes the milk more appealing and fun!
I was confident in his lunch. Needless to say, when he got home I noticed there was a note in his bag. It said that he barely ate his lunch. She also said that Isaac seemed tired today. Seemed about right because my brother came in and visited with him last night. Also, he’s been having a cough with a possible ear infection, so he may not have been feeling well.
As you can see, no veggies at lunch today. Like I said, our grocery stock was pretty low. But tonight I cooked some whole wheat pasta with a lot of veggies and some tomato sauce. His appetite seemed to return when he got home.
Thanks for reading! I hope everyone had a great day.
