Saving Time With Slow Cooking

Hi everyone! We’re halfway through the week now, and I’m counting the days until the weekend. I’m still a bit tired from all the traveling last weekend. I have to say that this week has been pretty stress free though. Isaac doesn’t start camp until Tuesday, and Andrew is off of school right now. This means that they’re home together, and I don’t have to pack lunch or rush in the mornings. It also makes dinners a bit easier.

Saving time is really important for me especially at dinnertime. I don’t get home from work until around 6:15 on most days, and I like to have dinner ready by 7. One gadget that I’ve really started relying on to help with dinners during the work week is my slow cooker.

I remember registering for this Crockpot for our wedding, having never used one before. I just figured it was something that I should get. :) Now, I use it almost every week. Because it’s a large one, I can usually make enough to have leftovers for the next day. Lately, I’ve been cooking beans to help save money. Beans are very economical and a great source of fiber and protein.

To save even more time, I tend to chop veggies the night before. Yesterday, I made New Orleans Style White Beans, so I chopped everything and even cut the sausage into little pieces.

I even portioned out all of the seasonings the night before. It makes mornings so much easier to just dump everything in the slow cooker and turn it on.

And one last cheat time saving step…I found these great slow cooker liners on the aisle with aluminum foil and saran wrap. They are amazing! They make cleaning up so easy :) . Not to mention they’re very affordable, and you can find coupons in the paper for them all the time.

Have a great remainder of the week!

Do you ever use a slow cooker?
